- The quick, brown fox jumps over the lazy dog. Perhaps
- you did not realize as you keyed the first sentence of this
- paragraph that every character in the alphabet was stroked.
- Obviously, this sentence serves as excellent warmup copy in
- that it requires the stroking of all the alphabetic keys at
- least once. Through keying this sentence you can determine
- if any of the letter keys are sticking or inoperative. One
- of the darker moments for a keyboarder is to begin a timing
- only to discover that one of the keys is out of order. You
- might wish to memorize this sentence for your warmup drill.
- Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of
- their country. Without doubt the preceding sentence is the
- most practiced copy in our language. Students with a quite
- high skill level as well as the slow beginners always enjoy
- keyboarding this copy to display their speed. Just why has
- this copy proved so popular with students? The composer of
- this famous line is unknown. However, it is obvious to all
- keyboarders that this copy is unusually easy. This results
- primarily from the copy being constructed of short words as
- well as the words being composed of alternate hand strokes.
